Bluegrass Inn, Bluegrass Inn!

Lower Broadstreet

I Love Me Some Bluegrass Inn!!!

I always wondered why there was a photo of Layla as Superman in the Women's Bathroom at the Bluegrass Inn. Now I know why! She appeared out of nowhere with huge bouncer-types to quash the out-of-control quarrel.

The fight happened during the wee-hours of the night. Was so close to closing time, it weren't funny.

We had left the Vandy Kids at the Karaoke Box. I never knew people could smoke so much. What was worse though, was the complete bizaare selection of cover tunes -- from bands I had only read about in the hip section of the LA Times Calendar. I guess those kids singing along with The Killers are the future...and that is kinda scary! And that girl who sang the song about "The Ugly Girl." Dang, bitter or what? Not the girl singing, but whatever artist wrote and performed that song. I thought my people were mean. No, I guess not.

I can now see that why "the older generation" thought their time was more gentle, kind, etc. I can't even imagine Joni Mitchell singing about how she hated the girl who snagged her boyfriend and that the only reason it happened because she was not as pretty as she. We all kinda think that about people, but some things are better left unsaid! It's like that "Mean Girls" movie. I guess folks were always mean, they were just better at hiding it. But maybe not. Hmm....

I'll bet that artist ends up in the bargain bins soon. Just like Dale Bozzio and Missing Persons. The Casino and State Fair circuit is calling you!

Most of the Vandy Kids were nice and well-behaved. I guess I just have never liked college kids. Ever. Many seem very precious. For those, I anxiously await their rude awakening into the working world. I remember having a bunch of those types as interns when I was a corporate drone. Dang, they were annoying. "When I get outta school, yada yada yada." I always thought, "Why delay the inevitable?" You will have to get a job sometime!

I had this cousin who reminded me of Randolph Mantooth in his "Johnny Gage" era. He was super-smart...and wanted to let everyone know about it. He sure was good a making everyone feel stupid around him. Used a lot of big words, talked of subjects only discussed in classrooms. Well, cousin now works in some high-tech firm....and his Dad recently asked me, "Gee, do you think you could help him get out of his corporate job and into an artistic career that he is more suited for?"

Yeh, right. I should be more helpful and call....but somehow, I don't think I'll find time to. I have a long memory.

So, I'm not sure why I went from the Bluegrass to College people...but oh well. That is the fun of the Blog, I guess.

Remember kids -- stay in school! Study hard! Be all you can be!

AAAAAAY!,
Slewfoot

p.s. I'm probably just mad I never made the effort to go to college. Envious, most likely.
